Sage Intacct 2026 Release 4 goes live today, 6 November. Sage’s UK release notes cover changes across reporting, accounts payable, billing and sign-in. They also cover updates to project contract billing and work-in-progress management for construction teams.
Smart Reporting for Excel and custom sales invoice approvals require Early Adopter access. Several of the other updates need an administrator to enable them.
1. Ask Sage Copilot About Overdue Supplier Invoices
The Finance Intelligence Agent moves from a phased rollout to general availability in the UK. Open Sage Copilot and ask, “Which suppliers have overdue purchase invoices?” If you have more than one agent, choose Finance Intelligence first. Select View analysis, then How Copilot worked this out. Compare the result with your Accounts Payable records before deciding what to pay.
Your company needs a Finance Intelligence Agent subscription. A Business user with administrator privileges enables it. When someone asks about overdue purchase invoices, the agent uses their existing permissions. They need List and View access to those invoices.

2. Refresh Sage Intacct Figures in Excel
Smart Reporting for Excel keeps Sage Intacct data linked to an Excel report. If someone posts a late journal after you’ve prepared the board pack, refresh the figures in the workbook. That saves you running another export and copying the figures across. Sage Intacct’s data permissions still apply.
UK companies with a General Ledger subscription can apply through Sage’s Smart Reporting for Excel release note. If Sage accepts your company into the Early Adopter programme, Business and Employee users can use the feature.
3. Pay Employee Expenses Through Accounts Payable or Payroll
R4 lets you decide how to pay approved expense claims. With Accounts Payable, Sage Intacct creates a purchase invoice that can go through your usual payment run. The invoice shows the VAT lines from the claim without calculating VAT again. With external payroll, you can export approved claims for your provider to pay with wages.
Your administrator chooses the route and sets the employee liability account in Configure Expenses. For Accounts Payable, link a supplier record to each employee who claims expenses. For payroll, the person handling claims needs permission to remit them. Sage removes the Employee ageing report for both routes. Check the Supplier ageing report for outstanding Accounts Payable reimbursements, or confirm payment through your payroll records.
If you have a test environment, follow one claim from approval through to payment before changing your live setup.
4. See More Detail When Reconciling the General Ledger
R4 builds on the native general ledger reconciliations introduced in Release 1. The transaction list now shows the customer or supplier associated with each entry. If two entries are for the same amount, you can use the name to narrow down the match.
The Match date field is also available in Custom Report Writer. Add it alongside the match code on your reconciliation report so reviewers can see when your team matched each entry.
5. Route Sales Invoices for Approval
Custom approvals for Accounts Receivable sales invoices are available through Early Adopter. You could set a rule that sends invoices over £10,000 to a named approver or group. Sage Intacct routes qualifying invoices and records the approval history on the invoice, so you can see who signed it off.
An administrator creates the rules and policies in Custom approvals. Sage lists Administration, Approvals, and Accounts Receivable as requirements. Its feature note links to the Early Adopter application form.
6. Cover Timesheet Approvals When Someone Is Away
When a manager is away at the payroll cut-off, Sage Intelligent Time can send timesheets to a colleague to approve or decline.
An administrator enables delegation in Configure Time and assigns a delegate. Set the out-of-office dates so requests go to the delegate during the absence. If you want delegates to receive email alerts, check that notifications are on in both the timesheet approval settings and the user’s preferences.

7. Sign In With a Passkey
Administrators can enable passkeys for staff who sign in to Sage Intacct without single sign-on. Once you register a compatible device in your account settings, you can sign in with a fingerprint or another unlock method the device supports.
If you lose a registered device, use your password and multi-factor authentication to regain access and register another.
